FAQ

What do I need before I can start taking driving lessons?

Before you can start taking driving lessons, you must hold a valid provisional drivers licence. If you do not have one, then you can apply to DVLA online or collect a form from the local post office. For those approaching 17 years of age, you can apply up to 3 months prior to your 17th birthday.

How do I book lessons and fit them around my daily schedule?

Even we know, sometimes life can be pretty hectic. From the school run to the busy commute to work, it can be hard to fit everything in when there seems to be so little time. But don’t worry; we understand everyone has different responsibilities and will always do our best to accommodate you as the pupil. Tell us what times work best for you, and the instructor will check the diary and provide you with an option of available dates and times.

How many lessons will I need?

A frequently asked question, and to be honest, we could not tell you. See no two students are the same, and everybody learns at different paces. So, although Sarah and Luke may have started taking driving lessons around the same time, it does not mean their driving abilities will be at the same level. Luke may excel in areas Sarah may struggle with, and vice versa. It’s down to the learner, as the right attitude, time, effort and determination have to be there.

Will I pass the first time I take my practical test?

At Learner 2 Driver Academy we have a good rate in first time passes and will do all we can to help you ace the driving test first time around. Many people do take the practical test and pass, but with others, it may be a few attempts before they do pass. Again, it’s down to the individual.

A nervous student is less likely to pass as they will find it harder to concentrateStay focused and own it.

What if I fail my practical test?

If you don’t pass the practical driving test the first time, It does not mean you are not a good driver or will never get your licence. There are many different factors which contribute to failing a practical test, with nerves usually being the number one culprit. But you can always re-book and go over any weaknesses or flaws, and work on getting yourself prepared to pass next time around. Fingers crossed.

What are the minimum number of hours in lessons I can do a week?

We don’t require that you give us every hour of your day, or try and take lessons you cannot afford but instead, we ask for you to set yourself a realistic and affordable budget that is suitable to you and your finances. So, if that’s 1-2hrs per week, then that’s fine by us. Whatever suits you in terms of flexibility and budget, we will always do our best to accommodate you.

What car will I learn to drive in?

We currently offer our driving lessons in a Toyota Yaris.

How will I pay for my lessons?

  • Payments should be made directly via bank transfer with the pupil’s name used as a reference.
